With 50 years’ experience in floating energy infrastructure, Höegh LNG has played a critical role in connecting global energy markets—pioneering solutions that enable the movement and supply of liquified natural gas (LNG). Their ability to respond, and at pace, in times of uncertainty has underscored their importance to societies around the world.

In 2023, the company unveiled a new strategy, focusing on their LNG expertise while expanding into marine infrastructure solutions for clean energy. This diversification marked a pivotal moment, as they embraced their growing role in both energy security and transition—prompting a refresh of their name, positioning, and identity.

Rooted in their proud Norwegian heritage and maritime tradition, this was a process of evolution, not revolution. To create a suitable solution, we involved over 250 stakeholders from across the organization, including family owners, investors, employees, and leadership, ensuring a collaborative approach toward building a brand that would deliver for the business.

Idea

"The vital link to secure transition."

As the energy landscape shifts, countries need a partner that can adapt and accelerate both energy security and the transition to cleaner sources. The brand strategy we defined amplifies Höegh’s ability to connect the needs of today and tomorrow. Leveraging their expertise and infrastructure to meet current energy demands, while pioneering clean solutions for the future—the vital link.

The company also needed a new name to mark this new phase. Our research showed that keeping ‘Höegh’ was essential due to its respected legacy, but signalling a forward-looking approach was equally important.

The new name we defined, Höegh Evi, reflects this balance. "Evi" stands for energy vector infrastructure, representing adaptable solutions for today and tomorrow. It also connects to Höegh’s Norwegian roots, inspired by the Norwegian word 'evig'—meaning eternal, forever.

Defining a new brand identity

The new brand identity embodies Höegh Evi’s new position, "The vital link to secure transition". Built on the power of the link, the system heroes the critical connections Höegh Evi creates, while also alluding to their nautical past and the fluid motion of the sea. In a nod to their original flag, the link itself also connects at a 111-degree angle—drawing inspiration from a proud brand element for a new era.

Connecting the past with the future

The theme of connection is ever present throughout the brand – and the new identity ensures Höegh Evi’s proud heritage and future direction are always connected. Heritage features, like the brand’s iconic flag, have been updated to feel more contemporary, while still staying true to the past. The logo also echos this theme of connection, with the contrast in look between the two parts of the name shows how past, present and future work together in harmony. The logo design also features the link shape and 111-degree angle, tying the brand together in a cohesive system while celebrating the connections they create.

A vital transition

A transitional gradient was created to tell this story of connection through colour. By retaining the legacy Höegh Blue – a symbol of their shipping heritage, infrastructure and affiliation with the sea – and transitioning it into a new, Vital Purple, we represent how Höegh Evi acts as the vital link that keeps the world’s energy in flow to meet new demands—a story of transition in colour.

A website built to evolve with the brand

To introduce the new identity, we built a bespoke website that reflects the refreshed brand and their evolving focus. It highlights their leadership in secure transition through an engaging, brand-driven user experience and design—helping Höegh Evi boost brand recognition and expand communication opportunities.

As part of the website development, the Höegh Evi team wanted to have a content management solution (CMS) that was designed for ease-of-use and flexibility. In response, we developed the website on WordPress, offering a customized solution tailored to meet the current and future needs of both the business and the marketing team.
